Alexis joined Herbst Law Group in September 2026, bringing more than 20 years of experience in elder law, special needs planning, estate planning, and Veterans Benefits. Prior to joining Herbst Law Group, Alexis owned and operated her own law firm for 20 years, where she focused on helping individuals and families navigate complex legal and planning needs.
Alexis began her legal career in environmental law. She attended the master’s program in Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island and later attended Vermont Law School, known for its environmental law program. Her early career focused on coastal zone management and public access to the shore, and she held positions with nonprofit and government organizations, including the New England Aquarium, the City of Boston, and the Massachusetts legislature.
After volunteering with the Elder Law Project of the Women’s Bar Foundation, Alexis discovered her passion for elder law and shifted the focus of her practice. Since then, she has dedicated her career to working with elders, individuals with special needs, and families of all ages to solve pressing problems, organize their legal affairs, plan for the future, and find peace of mind. She has served as Director and Clerk of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and regularly presents on topics of elder law, most recently developing a focus on the evolving area of accessory dwelling units.
